TORONTO - Wesley Badanjak demonstrated his deftness at interpreting classic looks for the modern woman with a polished array of suiting, coats and evening attire for his Lovas label at Toronto's LG Fashion Week on Wednesday.
Garments were saturated in rich hues including navy, charcoal, black, white, crimson, bordeaux and gunmetal grey.
With a focus on a longer and leaner silhouette in his eveningwear and suited separates, Badanjak delivered hints of sweetness for day and ramped up the glam quotient with a few spicier - yet still refined - offerings for evening.
The Lovas collection had its share of romantic touches with bow blouses, floral prints, colourful dresses with chevron striping and flared, pleated hems adorning jackets and skirt hems. The pieces worked effectively as standalones and paired well with pencil skirts, leggings and pants in both flared and slim, cropped styles.
Outerwear pieces featured a variety of adornments, from heavy fur black trim to gleaming, silver buttons and exposed zippers fashioned on trenches.
Eveningwear was largely saturated in black but in different fabrications. There were more demure cap-sleeved dresses and there was a liquid smooth velvet skirt. For those seeking more body-hugging numbers, there was a form-fitting ruched one-sleeved top and a floor-skimming wrap front dress with wide open V-neckline.
