L & M Wood Products Limited Partnership of Glaslyn, Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to a charge under The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act after a worker was seriously injured in July 2009.
The injury happened while the worker was operating conveyor equipment at L & M’s sawmill.
L & M was charged with failing to ensure a stopping device for a trim saw was within the direct view and easy reach of its operator.
The company was fined 10-thousand dollars for the violation.
The worker’s employer, Thunder Employment, has also been charged with four violations under the OHS Act. That case has been adjourned until late October.
Glaslyn is approximately 205 km northwest of Saskatoon.
