A jacket similar to one worn usually worn by Hamza Alsharief has been turned over to Saskatoon police.

Alsharief, a 23-year-old university student originally from Saudi Arabia, was last in contact with his family on December 14, 2011.

Investigators do not believe there has been foul play in Alsharief’s disappearance, however family members say it is unusual for him not to be in contact with them.

Recently, police received information that a jacket, similar to the one usually worn by Alsharief, was found on the CP train bridge around the time of his disappearance.

A passerby thought the jacket was lost and placed it on a tree behind the Education Building on the University of Saskatchewan campus.

This past Saturday, search and rescue boats spent several hours on the South Saskatchewan River looking for Alsharief.

Alsharief is described as 5’8” tall with a slim build, short to medium length brown hair and possibly with a soul patch on his lower lip.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saskatoon police at 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
